As a college sophomore back in 1986, I can confirm that typewriters were very much still in-use at the time. In fact, I still used my mom’s old 60’s manual Smith Corona, cuz though electric typewriters did exist, they were expensive. And yeah, pc’s did exist, but they were even more expensive and out of my budget.
